Mental Ability Test (MAT) analyzes a student’s power of reasoning, ability to think, ability to judge, evaluate or discriminate, ability to visualize, spatial orientation, etc. There is a variety of questions, for example, analogies, classification, series, pattern perception, hidden figures, coding-decoding, block assembly, problem-solving etc.
Eligibility:
Eligibility Criteria for Stage I
Only Indian Students are eligible to appear
Students studying in class 10 are eligible to apply
Students with minimum 60% marks (General Category) and 55% (SC, ST and PH categories) in their Class 9(previous academic year) are eligible to apply
Candidate must be a student from recognized school in its State or Union Territory
Eligibility Criteria for Stage II
Based on Stage I, students recommended by State/UT are eligible for Stage II to be conducted by NCERT at national level
Scholarship program for NTSE Scholars
At the Higher Secondary Level, the eligible candidates receive scholarship of INR 1250 every month, which then increases to INR 2000 at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. At the level of PhD, the scholarship amount is given as per UGC norms.
To be eligible to receive the scholarship, and NTSE scholar has to fulfil certain criteria. The details can be read on the NCERT website.
Application Procedure:
The Application Form is meant for the students appearing at the State Level NTSE examination conducted by each state/UT.
The candidate/ Principal shall submit the form directly to the State/UT liaison officer only.
The candidate/Principal must deposit the application fee, if any, prescribed by State/UT along with the application form.
The candidate/Principal should leave the 4-Digit center code blank, to be filled by the liaison officer/other authorities.
